I'm really into scrapbooking and I want to make each of the girls a keepsake gift using my scrapbooking stuff, does anyone know of any good sites where I can steal some ideas or do you have any of your own? I got sneaky and had their Mom's send me a couple pics of them when they were little girls and I want to use them somehow? I have a idea or two but really want something different that they can tuck away for their daughters someday or just bring out each Christmas? Any thoughts out there???

Some really great ideas here, thanks to each and everyone of you! I may use them all into one?? This weekend is the big Christmas craft show and sale, so I think I'll go and check out the ideas there, but keep yours coming, I'm keeping a list of ideas. Thanks again!!

This is a paper craft, although not necessarily a scrapbooking craft...
My sister got copies of old family photographs and scanned them. Then she made my other sister and I a set of wall collages using some frames from the dollar store (or some other inexpensive place - the frames which have those multi-photo mats... By getting wooden frames that still looked nice and that all matched, she got an inexpensive set of frames for displaying family photos.
After she scanned the photos, she printed them all out in black and white (color took too much ink) then just arranged them in different combinations for each of us, so our photo collages are all different. The multi-cut mats allowed her to use a large number of photos and she used her computer to resize the photos to fit the holes in the mats.
She made one for each of us for each side of the family - one for my mom's side, and one of my dad's side, then one of just us girls together (my sisters and I).
Since my family is very interested in genealogy and family history, this was one of the nicest gifts I have ever received. They are proudly hung in my office where I can see all the pics!

There are some great ideas in the Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine and the Somerset Studio issues. I saw one where they made these paper teardrops, stitching the sides of each section together. You could use photos on each of those. I would make photocopies of the pictures. Also, I have seen glass crystal teardrops from chandeliers used as ornaments. You decoupage your pictures or photos on one side and they become beautiful ornaments. I also have done this with glass ornaments (glass blanks) found at AC Moores. You can combine it with scrapbook papers or rubberstamped images or ephemera. These are lovely.
You can also make felt hearts, layered, and blanket stitch a photo transfer image of the picture to the front of the hearts. Decorate edges with ric rac or braid trim.

Erin, the girls I speak of alot are my daughter in laws, mid 20's. They both blessed us with grand babies last year! I like your idea and may have to give it some thought, but thanks so much for your input. And Julie, where on earth do you get the 12x12 frames, because when I did my scrapbook wall ( check out my Country Pleasures blog to see a pic) I couldn't find any so I ended up using 11x14 and it would of been much easier if I had 12x12 frames. But I love my wall and each memeber of the family has a frame even the dog! Thanks for your input too!

I know you can get 12x12 frames now so you can make a nice page and frame it so it is more visable than in a book.

How old are they? I have an idea that is good for small children...
It's a small book, with only one pic per page, but it's really cute and actually may comfort the child when they are upset. My friend's mom made this for her toddler when his new baby sister was born and he was feeling unloved... It's called a "Who Loves Me?" book... She did hers in lots of different fabrics, using page protectors to protect the photos, but I made one for each of my nephews with a small scrapbook (6x9)and scrapbooking materials. They all loved these books to pieces...
Take one picture of each person in the family or close family friends that the child is very close to and create a separate page for each person. (Each pic should have only the person themself, or the child with that person. Since it's about them, you only want that child in the picture with the person, no siblings. I had to use a graphics program to crop some of the pics to make them work.)
The idea is that when the child feels lonely, sad or upset, they can take the book and look through it, saying... "Who Loves me?" Grandma loves me. Poppa loves me. Mommy loves me. etc...
