Does anyone know how to decipher Swedish knitting designer Elsebeth Lavold's knitting patterns?
I have her viking patterns book and I love the patterns but the cable charts are confusing. Anyone have any tips that could help me?

Oh good! I have a few patterns like that -- what does it mean? The "no stitches part"?

Which one are you doing? I believe that's the book that I am knitting out of. I have two of her books. It's the no stitches (the blacked out squares) that really threw me.
