Has anyone here made wool felted shoe inserts?

I bought these at the Alpaca Ranch today... Oh My Stars!! they are warm, snuggly and wonderful to wear,...

Has anyone ever made their own felted shoe inserts?
I called my daughter and told here to save me here cashmere wool from her cashmere goat,,, so I can try to make a pair...

This goat is still a bit shy,, but I know they are working on gaining it's trust..
They have 3 good ol' floppy eared goats (in other words, I do not know what breed) and a fat little pygmy goat named 'HeeHaw'... and he thinks he rules the roost! lol!
2 sheep, and 2 pot belly pigs.. we won't even talk about the dogs and cats that they have (all rescued)... but they have the acreage to give all these critters forever homes.. and they are all well fed and attended to 2x a year by the vet that comes out to trim hooves and give injections, etc.
Feeding time is always a hoot! they are all such pushy and gluttonous critters.. lol!

This is such a great idea! I have access to alpaca fleece - might have to try this.

Felted shoe inserts are new to me but they sound like a great idea! I am going to look into getting some for myself for those few cold spells we might get in January or February. The idea of felting my own intrigues me and I have just the wool to do that with.

Yes the cashmere can be felted, and yes felted cashmere slippers would be fit for a queen. If she was subject to cold weather that is! I guess more people dont keep these goats cause they are rare but there is an American cashmere goat club. They are gorgeous animals. My personal economy has reached such a low that i have to felt my own clogs. Just cant afford the 100$ they cost. But then again I dont really need them in florida anyway. Cheers!

I like the idea of making these,,, I will have to collect as much cashmere as possible.. to felt into a pair of inserts... or I could just buy another pair from the local Alpaca farm... lol!

That's kind of the idea behind the popular Ugg boots. Their inner lining is more crushed wool than felted but it ends up conforming to the wearer's particular foot like a felted insert would. Great idea!

I always spread layers of fresh, teased, wool fleece inside my kids boots; by the time they came home from school, it has all felted into perfect boot inserts!!
Pull them out to dry at night and voila! wool boot or shoe inserts.

Marilyn, check with your local/TX Alpaca ranchers to see if they make & sell these... if not, here is the site for the Alpaca ranch that I got mine from...

'Lisa' and her hubby own & operate the ranch and they give tours, and have a small 'store' on their property. Very nice people.

Thanks for sharing such a neat idea. Some of my family members work outdoors year round. My husband has tried all kinds of products to keep his feet warm, to no avail. I will try this. Thanks.

No I haven't but that sounds like it would be perfect in the wintertime while wearing my UNlined muck boots :)
