I was perusing through some quilting blog sites when I came across this sweet idea...
You can use a cardboard or wooden round box, and use 'Mod Podge' to glue on the exterior fabric and then glue on the little Hexagons and decorate to your hearts delight...
I may have to put this idea on my (ever growing) list of ideas for future projects.
Hopefully it won't end up in the UFO pile!

Ok, yesterday I cut out a stack of Hexagons, for a future project.... hmmm, wonder what it will be? heeheehee!
I inherited a "GO Fabric Cutter by accuquilt" which is a device that comes in handy for quilters who need to cut multiples of something, like 'hexagons'... perfect cuts and goes a lot faster then trying to cut them out by hand.
I also was given 4 sets of cutting Dies, Wahooo!

oh for sure! and what a sweet 'keepsake' container it would make... best of all, we are not limited to a round shape, it can be square or oval... and what a great way to use up bits of scrap fabric...
A paper crafter could do likewise using crafting/origami/card stock or even gift wrap aper... and let's not forget those sweet thin layered sweet froofroo paper napkins that you peel apart... Oh so many ideas, my lil brain is in over load... lol!
p.s. I see another item that can be decorated w/orphaned/broken jewelry...
And, Maryjane,,, your comment brings to mine..(nylons)... I actually found a box (remember how the more expensive ones came in a flat box....) and have it stashed w/my vtg. clothing and hankies... I still giggle when I look at the 'shapely leg shape' of each nylon... wish my legs looked that shapely! lol!

I do love it! It looks like the top is stitched fabric. I still have the cloth-covered box my mother made (kept in her top dresser drawer)that she stored her rolled up nylons in. It's just begging for a daughter-added hexagon on top.
