My brother found one at a yard sale several years ago -- paid $15 for it. My hubby bought it from him to give to me for my birthday that year. We had the local shop clean it and tune it up and it STILL purrs like a very happy kitten -- always my favorite machine to take to classes. I also love to sit outside in good weather and piece quilts -- my little beauty has spent many happy hours outside with me.

Take it easy, but take it.

I have a 1952 Singer (made in Scotland) that looks very similar to the one you've posted. when my husband's grandmother passed in 1995, there weren't any takers for the beauty, and so my husband (then my boyfriend) said, "I'll take it; Denise sews."

I still feel like I'm been given the family jewels and that someone might recall it!! But I LOVE it. It sews like a dream, and what I really really love is that it can sew itty bitty stitches - like elfin-sized stitches. I will tell you that she gets a little overheated with too much use in one session. I can feel it in the foot pedal.

Oh, and I've named mine Esther (after husband's grandmother!!).

Have fun with your Lucy!!!

Hey Bonnie, yep it will be going with me & my 'Scotty' :>)

Today I cleaned up the machine 'innards' and oiled everything that needed oiling.. and I found a Free download of the org, Featherweight sewing machine instruction book,,,
Now my lil machine purrs like a kitten!
Hopefully tomorrow I will get to play with it and test the tension and stitching... but first I need to put a new machine needle in...

I am thinking about calling my machine... Lucy

Oh, a great score! I have one just like it case and all! When I bought it the guy was shocked I was going use it to sew. Go figure! LOL My gran always said a machine used stays in the best shape. I use mine all the time for sewing projects over my newer modrn machines. It sews the greatest even stitches. I love mine, can you tell!
