Posted - Nov 15 2006 : 10:02:25 AM Hello I love Fat quarters to make little crafts. I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a fat quarter swap. The way I thought I would do it is take names and address and compile a list. Everyone would send I fat quarter to each name on the list. I am going to limit it to 12 people in a group. Let me know what you think.I will take names now we will send them out in Jan Hugs, Elizabeth |

Posted - Nov 19 2006 : 09:33:12 AM Thanks Bramble:) I actually started to learn quilting this summer...but due to BAD allergies I always was sneezing and couldnt learn to well and it was not good for cutting;) HACHOO!My auntie quilts and I thought it'd be great to learn. Posted - Nov 19 2006 : 07:38:13 AM I would do two groups as well Elizabeth. Also a fat quarter is usually 18" x 22" depending on the width of the fabric = sometimes 42" wide, and sometimes 44' wide!
Hope that helps!

Posted - Nov 19 2006 : 07:02:15 AM A fat quarter is a quarter of a yard but not a cut quarter of yard. What you do is cut 1/2 yard of fabric and then cut that a the seam and that will give you a fat quarter. I will sit down this week and figure the groups out. Yes you can be in 2 groups. I have a cold right now and I need a couple days to get myself feeling better. Hugs, Elizabeth |

Posted - Nov 18 2006 : 10:30:23 AM No problem...it is a quarter yard of fabric, sometimes a little more .Usually 100% cotton and they used to be calico, gingham but now people use any type of quilting fabric. They can be found precut in fabric stores, usually stacked or rolled with fat quarters of compatible fabrics. It's lots of fun to see what a variety you get and great for sampler type quilts because you usually get enough to mix and match for multiple blocks. Hope that helps clear things up!
