Don't y'all love the article on rug hooker Edith Hostetler in the latest MJF magazine?? I came to rug hooking about 10 years ago - mostly because of the old warm prim rugs I was seeing in books and magazines. Although I try to "make-do", I always seem to over-think my designs, colors, etc. Loved Edith's just-do-it attitude - got me right back to work on my current rug putting in those colors I was unsure of, making the design work - and I am loving the rug. Sometimes a gentle push to carry on is a good thing! What a fun spirit Edith seems to be! sandi |

Jenny - so enjoy your website - love your "style" with crafting and am sure I'd like your rugs as well! Heading off tomorrow for a long girlfriends' weekend in the country - cooking up some food to take but know we'll spend most of our time throwing rugs & wool all over the floor, designing, hooking, oohing and aahing over all of it! Love the simple joys and friendships that have come with hooking. sandi |

Rhonda - you will so enjoy the article on Edith. She brings such a relaxing calm to the art - note she uses no frame, draws her own patterns freehand right onto the backing, cuts her wool by hand and her fav hook is a repurposed screw driver! With so many choices and opinions on hooks, frames, etc., it is so neat to read of someone who makes wonderful rugs without all the "latest!" Hopefully you'll be exposed to all kinds of equipment through your classes - everyone has a strong opinion on what works best for them and they all differ from each other! Always best to try hands-on to see what works for you. Hope you enjoy your hooking - nothing better than sitting down to a basket of wool and a fun design! sandi |

I'd better get to the newstand! The woman who is teaching me to hook has an amazing sense of color & design. She is dying her own wools-just lovely! She'll be online soon-remind (nag) me to share the link!
I'm really excited...several of the women from class are going to start a hooking group locally! Something I've wanted to do for nearly 20 years!
I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on what kind of frames, hooks, etc. you like best, and why!

Sandi...I loved that article too..I love rug hooking!! I try to do at least one hooked project each year. I used to be in a guild and sold my rugs through a shop..it was great fun..I got to do anything I liked and they always sold..but things changed..the shop closed and I moved away and I am in another "phase" of my life..haha. Edith's attitude is great. Things do look alot more prim if you just do it..I love that!!
