OMG I never had any idea what I had in there. I am getting it done slowly but I just can not believe how much stuff. Anyone else ever clean out their sewing room??

Thank you Mz Beverly,
And thank youi to all those who have responded and asked questions. I have found a few quilters out there that have been doing these Quilts of Valor and that is so inspiring and heart warming. One of the veterans hospitals are in my area and our local quilts go there. It is so nice to give something to these wonderful women and men who keep us FREE.
Any pieces you have will be put to good use. Thanks again.

Daizy, just recently my friend and I made 14 quilts for a veterans group so I do not have to much of those colors left but I will keep you in mind when I see some in the near future.

Hay ya'll,
I have been gathering fabrics for a quilt....it will go to a Vietnam Vetaran. My quilting friends are doing the Quilts of Valor and I have joined them. This vetran lives down on the farm near my house and he is just the greatest man. Any way, I am looking for red, white and blue fabrics and scraps. I am still thinking about what design to make for him. If you have a scrap bag or any fabrics of this color in your stash I would love to add them to his quilt....kind of a community quilt, of sorts. All our vets are special and they love receiving these hand made quilts. Thanks for your help.

Hi everyone, I had a quilt shop 3 years ago and am constantly purging things. I donated a huge amount of fabric to the senior center here. They make quilts for charities.
I am always looking for old torn and damage quilts. I make jackets out of them. I'm trying to put my life back together after losing my house and being forced to close my quilt shop because of the economy crash. I was in a tourist town and well, people don't spend money when the economy goes to you know what in a handbasket.
Anyway, I'm also willing to barter quilts for fabric scraps. Most are at least fat quarters and most of the time much larger than that.

Hay there, Mz Beverly,
I would love to have all your chenille and the old quilts. I reuse and repurpose them if they are in really bad shape. I am making a hexagon quilt and all the old quilts that have usable fabrics can go into them. I also have a huge collection of antique quilts that just needed a home....and I can not cut them up.....I have only cut up one ragged holy one. I also collect pin cushions and sewing boxes/baskets. Just thought you might want to know in case you want to purge any of those items to a good home.
I am willing to pay shipping if you want to send them down here.

Oh I am so thankful for all of your responses. It is really nice to know I am not the only one that needed to clean there sewing room out...I will list things on a new thread of things I have that are extras. Right now I have a chenille bedspread, some Maryjane farms magazines, a very old Quilt, I was going to make things out of the chinille and old quilt but I do not think I want to know. So yes I have some extra stuff, I know I have more too, just have not gotten to it all yet...hehehehehehe

It is good to clean out sewing/craft rooms every other year or so. Because you find things that no longer interest you, like my soap making supplies I donated to my church last year. Now someone else can take up a new hobby and I am a blessing to someone else.

Well so far the things that have come out, I have found homes for most of it, so I feel good that it is getting smaller and other people are happy too. I will let ya know when I get it all done and I have bunkbeds in there...

Last summer/early fall I did a major clean out and reorganize of my sewing/project room. I think it's just the way it is when we participate in these kinds of activities. So, you're not alone. It can be overwhelming and, for me, it was time to just do it and reclaim some of my space. Lots and lots of sewing and craft supplies went to new homes!

My craft room is only a three season one, so during the winter I pitch stuff out there. It forces me to reorganize every spring. Lots of fun, but always a bit challenging to find space for all the new stuff. :)

Oh my did this last year. I too got rid of piles of stuff. Photo copied things I really liked and kept them in a binder and the rest went. Books, magazines etc. Lace trim.. O my. Have fun!

Oh ya!!!! We moved last year and I cleaned it out and was shocked beyond belief at what I had managed to accumulate. Sold much of it at a yard sale and after moving took a bunch to the thrift as I just didn't want to find a place to put it. No regrets on getting rid of it either.
