Posted - Feb 08 2014 : 8:37:07 PM While out junktiquing at a local Thrift, I came across a Early American style metal lamp shade... it was copper and white in color... rather dated in design & color... but I knew it had potential... SO I bought it, cleaned it, primered it, spray painted it & Voila! a sweet cake cover!
![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/DSCF0616.JPG) I painted it red and gold...
![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/DSCF0617.JPG) I removed the metal/wire works from the lamp shade... now I can cover a cake or a plater of food... I can hardly wait to use it this summer.![](icons/icon_smile_big.gif)

Posted - Apr 06 2014 : 4:09:49 PM Not good at adding pictures yet. Somehow I lost the pic of the rocker sorry. Also, the vanity looks like a desk, I just don't have the mirror done yet. I have the first coat on, but have not distressed it yet. I can only do so much and then I am done for the day. As I look at the pictures I see I need to do the foot board also. Just thought it was done. I also had to buy brown fabric and add to the dust ruffle so I could use tubs under the bed as storage. This is a taller bed than most. I love it though. Bought it from a farmer probably 30 years ago and have had it in storage. |

Posted - Apr 06 2014 : 4:07:52 PM Here is my latest redo. I talked my daughter into coming home and painting her room she had in high school. Been a while, not painted since 1991. I helped cut in and she did the rest. I bought a Dollar General long panel curtain and made on to fit the window. I used the bed that was in there which originally was mouse grey and pink before we painted it. I repainted a vanity and distressed it with shoe polish. I painted an old night stand I had and used the distressed technique again. I used stencil paint to trim the headboard and do the stencil in the middle of the headboard. I did splurge and buy a bed and a bag bedding set. The rocker was my husband's grandma's and received a new cushion cover. I have another bed to redo but was tickled how this turned out so had to share.![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/stencil and pillows.JPG) ![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/vanity.JPG) ![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/vanity stencil.JPG) ![](http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/Snitz/Images/bed and nightstand(1).JPG) |

Posted - Feb 23 2014 : 2:19:45 PM I gave my girlfriend a wing back chair. She redid it in new denim, but wanted to use some braid or something where the seams were. She was cutting up old jeans for a quilt she is making and lo and behold she thought.....why don't I use the felted seam of the jeans for the braid on the chair. She glued it on and I am telling you it is very cool. I wish it was in my house. She is an artist and the talent and creativity came out, good for her. I told my hubby it looked like it came out of an upper end furniture store. Gotta love it! |

Posted - Feb 09 2014 : 03:38:32 AM I have to say, that is pretty creative. I love repurposing too. I get on Pinterest and type in repurpose, upcycle, recycle, etc just so I can see what others are doing to reuse anything and everything. It is quite entertaining and enlightening. |
