Help! I have no idea how to scrapbook or where to start. Isn't that silly LOL

I used to have trouble putting different papers and embellishements together and getting it to look right. One thing that helped me was to find a card or scrapbook page I liked on the internet. Then I would try to copy it as best I could with colors, patterns, and lay out with materials I had on hand. It gives you some kind of guidance, but you are putting your own spin on it because you don't have the exact materials as the example you are copying from. It really helps you become more familiar with putting layouts together and giving confidence.
Oh, and if you don't have any paper crafting supplies, go to a Hobby Lobby (if you have one) when they have their 50% off sales and buy papers in all different patterns.....solids, some with light patterns, and some with more busy patterns. I can't stress this enough. You need a good variety. And just pick out a good variety of embellishements.....flowers, metal, resin.....it's fun to mix and match!

Miss hearing from you, but think of you often! I scrapbook a lot, and have found several great scrapbooking books at my library's used book sale. You might also check used book stores if there are any in your area. Other than that - just let your imagination run wild my friend!!!

Find a photo you really love. Make a copy of it (and you can also enlarge it if you want).
Go to a craft store, and in the scrapbooking section, buy a piece of fancy paper that matches your photo - either color or "theme" of the photo (birthday, Christmas, graduation, etc.).
While you're there, find a couple of doodads (aka embellishments) to dress it up a little bit. Also get some archival safe adhesive (I use Scotch brand double stick tape).
Tape your photo where you'd like on the page. Dress it up with your embellies.
As for inspiration, the other girls are absolutely correct. Another great resource is scrapbook.com. Their items are kind of pricey, but they have a gallery where other scrapbookers have posted their photos of their projects. Lots of GREAT inspiration there!

Oh Joan I wished I lived near you. I love scrapbooking. I agree with everyone. Just type scrapbooking and there are endless sites to go to.

Go to YouTube and type scrapbooking in the search line. All kinds of sites will come up. Subscribe to the ones you think might interest you. They are free. Buy a scrapbooking magazine. If anything looks good go to their web site and sign up for their email. Search for classes in your town. The possibilities are endless. Let me know if I can help you. Also, if you shop Hobby Lobby, Michaels, or Jo-Ann's sign up on their sites. They all have great online or store coupons.

Joan- I don't even know where for you to start.. I would try two things first- Pinterest, Stampin Up website and just check out ALL of the ideas..next I would go to your library and check out some books on scrapbooking. I know that some librarys have a circut die cut machine you can use- that is AWESOME!!! I think one of the most important things to do is organize your pictures and put them in the order that you would like to scrapbook them- for me that is HUGE!!! See if there are some friends that do it and perhaps you can borrow some tools before you go and purchase- there are sooooo many different tools! You could have a little get together and scrapbook with your friends that have done it and they can help and guide.
I wish I was there we could do it together!! I'm not great but love to do it!!
