I just had to show you gals,my Mom just gave me this machine,it's been lying to the back of the linen closet for so long she had forgotten about it.
It is a Singer 185 K and was made in 1959 at either the Killbowie or Glasgow Scotland factory when they were still manufacturing in Great Britain.
I just think its so cute and after a good oiling and getting the tension right it sews real nice though the bulb is burnt out and I haven't found a replacement just yet.
She's also giving me a vintage enamel green table that matches it perfectly,I just haven't had a chance to pick it up yet.

Awesome, love it! I have my Mothers old Singer, also have a Singer Featherweight and a Singer treadle. And I use them all, it's such fun! Enjoy!

Love it! The old machines are built tough to withstand lots of sewing. They had to when they were made as any folks made their own clothing for their large families. I have a 66K model from Singer and a White. But I haven't have the chance to use the White yet. Yours will look great with the enamel table.

O, a trouble's a ton or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it!
And it isn't the fact that you're hurt that counts,
But only--how did you take it?

I love the machines of that era. I have my grandmother's White Rotary. It's a tough little machine. You can only sew forward and back with it but she made plenty of stuff with it and I'm convinced that with the right materials you could sew a car on it. Enjoy the new Singer.
