if I cleaned up my craft/sewing/hobby room, I would not be able to find anything, so chaos it stays,lol...

I'll tell you what gets you motivated to get the room tip top: having your house on an open house for 2000+ quilters. Yes they are coming in August, but I've got a lot of work to do. If you can keep your table cleaned off with stuff organized so you can sit down and do, that's the key. I heard this advice: "I hear it takes a long time to finish a quilt you're not working on".

There seems to be a lot of different kinds of crafters here! Of course, everyone is different, so it makes sense! I know people who are like Lavendar Rose, and work well within their chaos. I'm feeling like I resonate with Arttie though; I don't like to have too many unfinished things. It makes me feel chaotic. Like right now! Luckily my DH is coming home for a week's vacation, and he can help me with the heavy work that needs to happen before I can really make the room work.

I've learned to work in chaos. Don't know how I'd manage in a neat tidy room. I seem to know where everything is for the most part. Has anyone ever watched Yours, Mine and Ours with Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo? She went into panic when she found that her family straightened up her craft room. Fun movie.

I've had some forced time off work recently (for medical reasons) and I finally put some effort into not only organizing, but also "styling" my craft room.

I had a lot of shelves, bins and boxes acquired at different times in my life, and even though things were organized, the room still looked like a jumbled mess because of all the different shapes, sizes, and colors.

Home Depot had Martha Stewart "cubbies" on sale this week, so I bought six. Hubby and I put them together Sunday, and I am in process of spray painting all those old containers complementary shades of pink, yellow and green... It is starting to come together. But I am also still trying to do some sewing in between....I am like you, I feel like I can't start another project until I get the rest of them put away or completed. I even labelled a bin "current projects", I have materials for 5 or 6 projects in there, hiding until I am ready for them.

Yes. I have to have things neat and tidy before I can relax and start a new project. And I can only have 2 projects unfinished at a time. Or I start stressing. I have some serious OCD so if life is in chaos my brain is in chaos. Right now I have a quilt in the hoop and a small cross stitch project going.

And I have been commissioned to make a quilt. So I all be wrapping up a project or 2 this week.

I am a list maker also....

Guilty as charged. Everything is sorted, but it does need to find permanent, more organized homes.
