Posted - Mar 06 2013 : 09:34:56 AM Has anyone else noticed how many owls there seem to be everywhere? In clothes, jewelry, pottery, pincushions, garden decor? What gives? I used to collect owls back in the 70's but I think I put them all in a garage sale. If I had known they were coming back I would have saved them.

Posted - Mar 31 2013 : 1:11:50 PM Brenda, I have noticed the trending of owls for the past couple of years again. My neighbor too has had numerous yard sales selling her departed mother in laws owl collections. It was a big thing in the 70's with macrame'. Heck, I have a few of my own owls pieces.

Posted - Mar 21 2013 : 10:27:31 PM Yeah, my brother lives with us and he does not like owls. She'll stick one in his room every once in awhile, just to mess with him. Luckily, hers are all "Cute" I'd say, because owls can be S C A R Y.... |

Posted - Mar 21 2013 : 7:41:07 PM Mary, I'd love to see your owl board on Pinterest, can you share the link, either privately in email or here?
Michelle, I can picture your house (or at least your daughter's room) at night --- all the owl eyes glowing in the dark..... Too funny!

Posted - Mar 20 2013 : 10:45:51 PM My teen daughter jumped on board for the Owl Trend 2 years ago. After Christmas and Valentines Day this year, she realized that the number of owl gifts she's receiving is becoming a bit out of control. She told me she's going to have to be more "specific" on what type of owls she'd like to receive. She's gotten gloves, statues, sleeping mask, stationary, homemade and store bought stuffed owls...and so many more I can't remember. She's even picked out Owl Christmas wrapping paper the last 2 years and chose to wrap all the gifts she was giving in that paper. Some are cute, some...not so much. |

Posted - Mar 14 2013 : 7:09:35 PM Yes My DIL is having a baby and she wants the whole room filled with owls....Her baby shower is going to be a hoot!!!!LOL. Everything owls...I am in the process right now of embroidering owls on a pillow case for the baby. I collected owls in the 70's also and now wish I would of saved them. Gotta love them. They will probably phase out after a while and we will be back to dragon flys or something.

Posted - Mar 11 2013 : 04:52:06 AM I noticed it, too. They started making a comeback a few years ago, now it is an invasion! One of my knitting students who is a six grader recently asked to knit an owl!

Posted - Mar 10 2013 : 11:24:44 AM Yes I know they're everywhere right now. I saw some decorative ones in a boutique made of snowy white bird feathers and some were encrusted with glitter, they were so pretty! Very different from the ones in the 70's but definitely making a comeback. My mom use to collect them but every holiday and special occasion we would get her one until she said "Enough already with the owls!" She got rid of all hers too in a yard-sale, I wish I had them now I'd glitter them up!

Posted - Mar 07 2013 : 09:31:41 AM I find owls intriguing and interesting . . . have for most of my life. I don't collect them or use them to decorate stuff, etc. I do find them to be amazing creatures.
When I take my dog out around 9:00 PM every night for her last "business trip" till morning there is an owl in the cedar trees just north of our garden that "speaks" to us. I love it! CJ

Posted - Mar 07 2013 : 08:30:41 AM I have heard them far away on summer nights and they seem mysterious. But the decorating trend mystifies me - is it because of Harry Potter? Or something else?

Posted - Mar 06 2013 : 7:50:01 PM Cindy, there are three owls that sit and hoot most of the night on the roof above my bedroom. When they get really loud and vocal, my cat Gracie dashes under the bed. I love hearing the owls. Marly

Posted - Mar 06 2013 : 5:37:32 PM I have an owl wall hanging, a couple ornaments, a necklace, and a Native American owl fetish (which I suspect is really from China). I have this thing for owls ever since I rescued one a few years ago. I've also made some little felt owls from a pattern I have. I have a book of Celtic verse, which has a poem called "Eagle of the Night". But I see them during the day as well--they just usually hunt at night so they don't have to compete with hawks. Cindy
