I'm getting ready to start embroidering some kitchen towels (hopefully for Christmas, depending on how motivated I am). Does anyone have any good places to get the plain old cotton, floursack kind? I've found one dealer on ebay who sells them, but I didn't know if there was some sort of surplus or something where I could get more than 2 at a time.

I found them 5 for $5 today at WalMart! I'm going to wash them real quick and then start working! Thanks everyone!

I got some at ShopKo, the only place ive found so far. they were alittle more 3/5.99
I washed them before embroidering and they seem to be pretty good fabric

Fred Meyer is similar...you can buy just about anything as well as groceries.

Julia- we noticed the Fred Meyer when we were in Oregon this summer. We didn't see any WalMarts. Is that what a Fred Meyer is- like a WalMart? We don't have Fred Meyer here.

I bought a package of two at our local Fred Meyers for $2.99. Great price and they are huge so I will cut them in half. The only negative is that they are rather thin...I would like them a bit thicker.

I would ask where they keep kitchen towels. Ours keeps them right by the regular kitchen towels. I get them in a 6 pack for $6 and change. Not bad I think.
I feel bad now that I have been buying them though....every year there is a flea market up in a neighboring town and the Relay For Life is there selling them for $1. I always get a couple of them as the flea market is once in the Spring and then again in the late Summer, so I end up with about 4 of them. I think I will be giving them a little more for each towel (the embroidery on them is stunning. OI love them and I buy them in memory of my Grandma who died a year and a half ago at 66 of breast and ovarian cancers) because I know how much time goes into them now and I know how much each towel costs just cost alone to do the project.

Oh- thanks y'all. I never ever thought about the hardware stores! I'll check with them tomorrow. Do I just ask for flour sack towels, or kitchen towels, or what? |

I get mine at the local Ace hardware. We don't have a Kmart around here..but I think someone else did say that they got theirs at one. My problem with ordering them online was paying the shipping cost..it made them cost more than local. There are for sure diffferent types and grades. I like the bigger thicker ones best.

I get mine from either www.allaboutblanks.com or Aunt Martha. You can do a search for Aunt Martha and order them on line. I have ordered from them lots.

Dang. KMarts all closed here. I just found another dealer on ebay selling 38x31 floursack towels, 10 for $15! That's pretty good, althought that's a huge towel. |
