Posted - Oct 10 2006 : 6:47:25 PM These three things are some of what I have been up to over the last week or so. They are not sewn, but handmade.
The black masks are made from wood crown shapes that I bought at Joanne's. I painted them, added photos, glass glitter and other goodies.
The fancy hat box was one I had bought at a yard sale. It was a Mary Engelbreit(to help cover the color it was), but the colors were too bright for my tastes, so I painted it cream and then glued antique sheet music on the whole thing. The photo in the front is of my grandmother, grandfather and his sister (who introduced them to each other). This was so fun to make. I love to use my own family photos in my projects (copies), they mean more this way. Now this box serves no purpose other than to look cute, as I glued glass glitter all around the base where the box would open.

I think all three photos are on the page at yahoo photos when you open it.
Enjoy! Pamela

Posted - Oct 12 2006 : 1:03:48 PM Those are wonderful, expressive and personal craft items. I love your sense of understated colors combined with the silvery tinsel and glitter. I often see crafts in magazines that tell personal family history, but I have hesitated to try my hand at it. The use of color copies should make me take the plunge. Thank you for the inspiration. You did a wonderful job of expressing yourself.

Posted - Oct 12 2006 : 11:10:10 AM Pamela, Those are really cute, where did you come up with the idea? I think its just fine to have things that serve no purpose other then to make us happy, and I guess that becomes the purpose. NANCY JO |
