Posted - Nov 12 2012 : 9:02:15 PM I have been woodburning on boxes and gourds. Most of what I do is freehand. I did use a stencil for one of the eagles.

Posted - Nov 15 2012 : 10:20:06 AM I started out with simple drawings and have gradually added more detail. It doesn't happen all at once. I've been working at this for about three years.
The gourds that I'm currently using are called canteen gourds. The reason that I'm using these gourds is because they have very thick walls and I can also carve on them. Any hard shell gourd can be burned on, though.

Posted - Nov 15 2012 : 09:11:30 AM Phyllis, those are really nice. Last year I tried a little freehand on wooden spoons for Christmas presents. Mine were not near as elaborate.

Posted - Nov 15 2012 : 06:30:19 AM Phyllis- you do beautiful work..what type of gourds do you burn onto? I don't know if I have a steady enough hand for it- but would LOVE to try! How long have you been doing this craft? Sorry that I'm all full of questions...

Posted - Nov 14 2012 : 5:41:38 PM I hope you try this Kathy, but you probably shouldn't post it here. I guess nobody likes it if it isn't crocheted, knitted or sewn.
