Posted - Nov 11 2012 : 06:40:28 AM I've been wanting a new sewing machine for a long time. I had an old Brother that I fought as much as it worked. I was able to use mom's when she was out of town and hubby's dad gave me a very old Singer (I never got it opened). Well, the other day my aunt sent me a package. It was Janome. SHe had updated and this was a second one she had from living in FL (Moved back to NH where she had her other one). I was so surprised and so thankful. I can't wait to try it out. I'm so looking forward to winter and some "craft" time.

Posted - Nov 16 2012 : 10:17:05 AM yeah it is a great machine, it was so cheap cause it didn't come with any extra feet, and no manual. Mainly they run about 400 dollars used there. But, then they come with lots of feet, manuals, etc etc. A good sewing machine is worth the price, especially if you really want to sew. Fighting with a machine takes the joy out of it. I think I will start sewing some wool long diaper covers this week! I'm going to Goodwill today to look for some wool sweaters to use.

Posted - Nov 15 2012 : 6:34:03 PM Margo, I agree. My Brother came from Walmart. There are certain things I just won't buy from them anymore. Heather $100! what a great price and what a great machine.
Some things I think are worth paying a little more for to have quality. I have my grandmother's old machine though it is in storage at the moment (cabinet and all so no place to put it). Some day I hope to pull it out. I know it works and mom has kept it serviced.

For instance I got a awesome bernina at my local dealer for only 100 dollars! That's what most new, low quality ones are around at walmart. It also came with a one year warrenty.
