I'm so excited, I just had to share with y'all!!!
I never learned anything about sewing as a kid, so I was always afraid to try it. Well, I saw a class being offered by the continuing education program here called "Beginners Knitting". I signed up, and last night had my first class. I LOVE IT!! It took my forever to master the basic knitting stitch, but the teacher was very patient, and I think I'm finally getting the hang of it. Can't wait to make my first scarf!!
Again, just wanted to share!

How fun Jennifer! Knitting is the one thing I have never tried, but always think "someday I will". Every knitter I know truly LOVES their craft. I bet you will too! My MIL makes amazing sweaters for our family...and the whole construction of these beauties just seems so mysterious to me! OK, "someday". :)

P.S.
I have taught lots of classes through community ed. It is fun and rewarding to meet people. Community ed has a hard time keeping teachers though as they never pay very much they keep most of the money for room fees and advertising. So if you think about it, it would be nice if you and the other people in the class really like your teacher all chip in and get a little something. Give it to the teacher the last day of class as a thank you so other people might have the same experiance as you and you don't get a teacher burnt out not wanting to teach any more. I was one of those burn outs. After I gave up teaching comunity ed about 1 year latter people called and said they wanted to take classes from me it would have been better to show appreciation during the class so 1 year latter I would have still been teaching them. I don't know just an FYI.

Oh Jennifer, that's wonderful! That's exactly how I learned to knit - a community ed. class five years ago. Now I can't imagine life without it! And I met two of my best girlfriends in that class and they are in the Urban Farmgirls with me. Community ed. is wonderful and knitting is so fulfilling...keep us updated on your progress! Purl stitch is next...you go girl!
