This is the quilt I have been working on for my oldest daughter..who turns 12 today. I just need to have it machine quilted and do the binding now. She helped pick the fabrics and pattern. It is called "Blossom time".

Jenny, what a beautiful job you've done. Great piecing and great fabrics. Summer is one lucky girl! Your kids are so fortunate to have you for a mom.

Love,
Ann

Oh, Jenny - the quilt is so cute - and how fun that Gloria is going to quilt it. That's a lot true farmgirl creativity bundled into one quilt! Summer is one lucky gal to have you as her mom - they ALL are. I hope she had a great birthday - from the looks of the photo, all of the girls did! AND... I hope you painted your toenails along with them!

XOXO, Libbie

Jenny, I LOVE the quilt!! You do an excellent job of matching seams and a beautiful job of coordinating fabrics. Your daughter will cherish this quilt her whole life. I love the Square in A Square but with a twist of having a ninepatch in the inside square. There was a lot of work that went into the making of this quilt and it shows me all your love you have for your daughter.

Happy Birthday to Summer! Love the flowery, summery quilt, Aunt Jenny. What a very special gift from her wonderful mom. You are both very lucky to have found each other.

My oldest son hinted that he would like a "jeep" quilt (he just recently got MY dream car..a jeep) and since I know his girlfriend is making him a Dodger's quilt I acted like I didn't get the hint. Only two more months of avoiding the subject. He will love it. I have seen pictures of the progress and she is doing great!! I hope to get a nice one made for each of my kids at some point. I wish I had one that my grandma made. I do have an afghan she crocheted for me...and I love that.

What a pretty quilt - she will treasure it for many years...

Just a side note... my nephews also were into quilting at that age - while Mom did most of the sewing on the majority of them - she has four boys- the boys all played an active role in picking out the fabrics and colors (and believe me, their color choices were CRAZY!!!)

One of the boys loves a certain college football team and picked their colors - orange and burgundy... Luckily I happened to run across some plaid fabric in those colors, and some in the reverse color plaid and sent a huge bolt of them both to my sister. She took those fabrics and did his entire room (coordinating with some solid fabrics in the same colors) and now he has the perfect "VA TECH room"...

Noah, the second eldest, decided he wanted to do the sewing on a quilt himself, and he did! (He was 9 or 10 at the time and while he only made a smaller quilt to match his own, it made the perfect mini quilt for his cat's bed and the cat won't sleep anywhere else.) He was so proud of himself, and since it was also a class project for school, he also got an A!

Guess what??? I am so excited!!! I am having gloria..our own berries....machine quilt this quilt for Summer!!! We have been emailing back and forth today and I am so excited!! I am getting backing fabric tomorrow for it and mailing it off on Monday. I am just thrilled!!!!
It will make it even more special for Summer. I have told her about all your birthday wishes.. She just grinned from ear to ear in her birthday tiara!!
We had 10 girls over for her party tonight...yikes! Wow were they loud..but they had a blast and she was so happy. Husband and the rest of the kids went to visit at his sister's house. They were banished from the kingdom until 10pm. It was great fun..pizza, movies and games and even toenail painting. 12 year old girls are so fun. And all in their pajamas. I gave her the choice of 2 or 3 girls for a sleepover (first ever) or 10 for a "late night" which I sure prefered. She chose the late night without hesitating. Thats my girl!!

Next week is younger daughter's 10th birthday!
