I made this handbag for my mother-in-law for her birthday/mother's day/anniversary that all occur within a week of each other. I designed the tree with the names of the children and grandchildren in the leaves, and my mother and father in-laws initials "carved" in the tree trunk. It is a small family tree, but a very strong one!!

I love your handbag. What a wonderful idea. Mind if I sort of steal the idea - I love embroidering family trees on jackets, etc. and this would go great with some of my things.

A beautiful heirloom! And when the purse is wore out it can be made into something else!

Thank you ladies! We have a family reunion coming up on my father's side and I'm going to remodel the tree design with different names and re-arranged leaves. We are going to have a little auction to raise money to cover reunion costs, so I'll make a few things with that design on it to auction off. Should be fun!!

Shirley, By all means have fun with the idea!! I will be doing another one for our family reunion on my father's side with him and his sisters and brothers amongst the leaves and my grandparents on the trunk.

Delicia,

I had not thought of that!! I could definitely do that with my side of the family, but better not with the in-laws!
