I think this is the name the fabric that is covered in a washable water repellent plastic? Has any one sewed on it before I am having a hard time finding any rain gear for my grand kids and thought about making them some. And was wondering if this would work.

I would use seam binding to keep the seams from ripping out when any strain is put on it but it should be fine for that use.
Patty, reusable sandwich bags,...HUMM!!!Great idea. I might give that one a try.

You might want to look into a PVC fabric that is used for infant diapers, it is waterproof on one side and soft on the other side. Many times in the 19th century they made oil cloth, check out this thread on the sewing academy http://thesewingacademy.org/index.php?topic=6947.0

I use oil cloth for reusable sandwich bags. Oil cloth is not true oil cloth when you buy it today as it use to be. It should work fine for rain gear.

A rind is a terrible thing to waste. Compost.

When they had all had enough to eat, he said to his disciples, “Gather the pieces that are left over. Let nothing be wasted.”
