City Chick, there's a free open source program called GIMP that works a lot like photoshop. http://getgimp.com/lp/index.php?pk=6542 Here's a link to page you can download it from. There's a lot of information and tutorials on the web for it too.

I think that would be wonderful. I have wondered for a while why not a thread for photography. I could learn so much. I say yes, yes.

I must admit, I'm an old fashion black and white gal. Studied photography way back in the early 90's when digital what not the thing. I'm an Ansel Adam's Zone System gal! Still have all of my darkroom equipment. I just cannot seem to part with it. I recently made the leap to digital photography, and bought myself a Nikon D7000. Still studying the manual! lol

Love your neighbors Judy! Great pic.

The road to success is not straight. There is a curb called Failure, a loop called Confusion; speed bumps called Friends; red lights called Enemies;caution lights called Family. You will have flats called jobs. But, if you have a spare called Determination; an engine called Perseverance; insurance called Faith, and a driver called Jesus, you will make it to a place called Success!!

Beautiful Lily!!!

I just got back from vacation and here is a photo I took while fishing in Arizona

Mr. and Mrs. Mallard was so friendly and spend a lot of time in our camp. (as well as some other critters) The water was so clear you could see the duck paddle.

I would definitely be interested - I could really use some help! My boyfriend bought me a great camera for Christmas, and I don't have a clue how to use it except in the "auto" point and shoot mode. It is a Canon Rebel with extra lenses. It has tons of buttons and dials, and a manual that is like reading Chinese................argh!!!

I have a Nikon D80 and a couple of extra lenses. I do use photoshop but only just barely scratch the surface on it's use. I plan to take a class at the college this fall on Adobe Photoshop so that should help.

Here's a shot of some of our "neighbors", I love driving past them. Are you wanting to talk photography or is this thread for posting photos?

You might also save the image to a low resolution of 90 and small dimensions such as 2" x 3" or less. This makes the images undesirable for copying or printing. I am also a professional photographer and along with the copyright I use this method on all public sites.

Hi Sweet Sisters,
I enjoy photography too and just this morning took a picture of my first daylily in bloom. Amazingly, daylilies, iris and roses grow very well in our hot Las Vegas Valley area. This daylily is named "Earl of Warwick". We are way ahead of many of you weather wise, and my iris garden has bloomed and is done already. But here is a beauty! Ha, photography and gardening hobbies overlap for me...oh along with bird watching, hiking all in which I have my camera slung around my neck. My camera is almost an additional appendage with me. Crazy fun! Annie

I need to do the same thing with my photos. I don't have photoshop. Wonder if there's anything else - perhaps free? That I can use.

If you have PhotoShop you can add a text layer on top of the picture and reduce the opacity to about 50% so that you can see through it. Also don't use a real high resolution so that they would not print well if downloaded. My husband uses this technique on his photos and has had no problems with theft.

What kind of cameras does everyone have? I have a Nikon D300 with a couple different lenses. I really enjoy using it. Do any of you, when posting pictures anywhere, put a little copyright thing on your picture or put your name somewhere on it so people on the internet can't use it? I've noticed all my pictures from my blog are searchable on Google and my husband mentioned I might want to put something in the corner of them to stop people from taking them. You know, something that says "Farm Milk Mama 2012" or something like that. How do you do that?
