Posted - Jan 18 2012 : 09:21:44 AM I learned to embroider and cross-stitch using a metal hoop that my grandmother gave me when I was seven. Sadly, it somehow vanished somewhere along the way. I now have some cross-stitch WIMs, but I absolutely refuse to use a wooden or plastic hoop. I've tried and I just can't; they feel as though they are going to break, and it ruins my tension.
I've checked Lehman's, Cumberland General Store, Vermont Country Store.... Do any farmgirls know where I might find one?

Posted - Jan 19 2012 : 8:31:27 PM Sheila, I envy your patience. After bad experiences with the round plastic ones, I saw the square ones and just walked away!

Posted - Jan 18 2012 : 1:14:20 PM Hi Alyce, I have one that looks to have been never used, I too use wood ones as I prefer them. When you open it there is cork around it to hold the fabric on. You are welcome to this hoop if you want it, email me your address and I will put it in the mail to you. Farmgirl Hugs, Deb

Posted - Jan 18 2012 : 10:10:58 AM Found their website, but no luck. I did see some on eBay though, so will mention it to the Mister (he always has better luck with eBay than I do for some reason).

Posted - Jan 18 2012 : 09:52:00 AM I learned with metal ones too and prefer them to plastic. Found some a couple years ago at Pacific Fabrics, don't know if they have a website or not. Check on ebay, never know what you will find there. Kathy |
