Kind of a dumb question, but is it some kind of punch embroidery hook? The hook end is very small and very fine and very flat...
Found this while I was decluttering my sewing stash-I have no idea where I got it from.
What do you think it's for?
Lovely wooden handle and that red color-WOW!

Posted - Jan 14 2012 : 10:48:57 AM I have seen hooks like these at Michaels Or, I thought I did because I thought it was a crochet hook with an ergonomic handle. Wouldn't a "latch" hook have a latch on the end to "hook" the loop of yarn on?

I worked for years in a craft supply store (stitchery dept). Rarely sold them (a few spinners used them) until crocheting rugs with fabric became popular again.
That's what I use mine for. It's great for soft fabrics.

Posted - Jan 13 2012 : 03:46:00 AM It is not a latch hook rug tool (it lacks the movable part that closes the hook, to prevent the yarn from coming out) and it is not a locker hook tool either (that has a hook at one end and the eye of a needle at the other).

Posted - Jan 12 2012 : 6:37:55 PM Maybe its original design was as a crochet hook, but has also found usefulness as a rug hook. I do like the bright red handle. The flatness of the hook makes me wonder though.

Posted - Jan 12 2012 : 08:07:47 AM Like Kris suggested, I have seen rug makers use that hook. Marly
