Posted - Jan 10 2012 : 9:02:19 PM For those who have never crocheted before, I'm putting up a tutorial on my blog on Thursday. We'll be making a simple mug mat and also a coffee cup cozy.
Hope you'll stop by and check it out.

Posted - Jan 15 2012 : 03:27:57 AM Somewhere out in the blogosphere, someone is doing a granny square a day. I think the link is posted here in the stitching forum.
My tutorial only shows how to do single crochet (sc). To do a granny, you'll need to know how to do a double crochet (dc). It's also so very easy. Like I said on the blog, every crochet stitch is just a series of yarn-overs and pulling up loops. For dc, yo before you put your hook into the base stitch (whether it's a chain or otherwise). Then, insert your hook and pull up another loop. Yo and pull through 2, yo and pull through 2 again. Et Voila! You have a double crochet.
Hope that helps!

Posted - Jan 12 2012 : 05:42:56 AM Good morning, Ruthie. I hope it helps. I put lots and lots of photos in my tutorials - I try to take one of every little step. Most of the time, unless it's a video, you don't get that, which really makes things hard to learn. I want everyone to learn, and learn easily, because then whatever you're learning is fun. Then, you'll also stick with it, too.
Happy almost weekend! Ann
