I began knitting last fall and found it to be something I truly enjoy. It's calming and zen and I can't beleive it took me all these years to pick up and all for the simple reason that I thought it was an "Old Lady's" project. Silly me

A book that I found most useful to the newby knitter is called "Stitch and [bleep]". With it's 1950's illustrations and sassy writing style it definitely makes knitting seem hip and cool for us youngsters...

Now that I can knit and purl, I am dying to take it up again.

So do we knit year-round or is this something we knitty biddies reserve for fall and winter months?

I say knit year round! I started knitting again several years ago and now I can't stop. It all started because somebody brought hand knitted socks to a quilt guild meeting. I thought to my self "I can do that." So I did. Problem is I also quilt. No inexpensive hobbies here.....lol

Happy knitting,

Marcia

KNIT YEAR-ROUND! I can't stop knitting. Well, that's not true. I haven't been able to knit nearly as much as I used to since the babe was born 7 months ago, but I still choose knitting over all of my other pasttimes when I finally get that free moment to myself. I simply knit smaller things (washcloths, baby sweaters, booties, etc.) in the summer months and reserve the adult sweaters and afghans for the winter when I want something warmer on my lap. I definitely get the bug to knit more when the weather cools down though. As soon as I log off here tonight, I'm planning to "play" with my yarn. I'm an organizational freak and need to see what I have. I have so many projects going! We're moving the old pine CD cabinet up to my craft room (since the iPod made the CDs obsolete!) and I'm planning to stuff yarn into it. I can't wait to dig in!

Keep on knitting!!!

I knit year round. This summer I crocheted several dishrags, and knit two prayer shawls. Right now I am knitting a scarf. I love the book you mentioned because it is so full of information. Keep on Knittin!
