Posted - Nov 19 2011 : 11:55:49 AM I sent the following email to Customer Service at Jo-Ann Fabrics to thank them for staying closed on Thanksgiving Day. I had received an email promotion with coupons and it noted that because they "respect our Team Members family time" they would be closed on Thanksgiving Day. My email read:
I am a regular customer at my local Jo-Ann's in Middletown, NY and I THANK YOU for putting family and Thanksgiving before consumerism. Because you have decided to stay closed on Thanksgiving I will make Jo-Ann's my first stop for anything fabric or craft and I will tell my sewing students and friends to do so as well. When so many retailers are infringing on Thanksgiving by opening that day or evening, Jo-Ann's has resisted making Thanksgiving yet another American "commercial holiday".

Posted - Nov 20 2011 : 9:12:20 PM The Hobby Lobby here had a similar sign saying that they were closed Sunday's so that their people could be with their families and worship. I was very impressed and for that reason alone, would return to their store.
Excuse the mess & the noise, my children are making happy memories |

Posted - Nov 20 2011 : 7:56:45 PM Dianne, Kudos to you ...for sending that email & letting Joanns Fabric know that as a consumer you appreciate their putting their employees first.... That says a lot about a retailer. It's important to let retailers know that we consumers can get by a day w/o shopping so that others may spend a Holiday with their families. I think we should all send emails to Joanns to say Thank you. :>)

Posted - Nov 19 2011 : 12:01:15 PM Horray for Jo-ann's. I agree, there's too much consumerism on the part of corporations. I'm glad to see someone taking a stand.
