Posted - Nov 14 2011 : 10:27:05 AM Decided to make mittens for the homeless, and have had 2 trial pairs----anyone doing this, are you lining yours???? If so, with what???And are you sewing both together at the same time or seperate??? Thanks for any info.
Also, are any of you making the mitten with 3 fingers and the pointer and thumb seperate?????? This makes for a more usable mitten....fyi...I own 1 pair and love them so much.

Posted - Nov 19 2011 : 08:54:24 AM Beverly your mittens sounds like the ones I make as well. They make nice gifts. I do line mine though...with fleece.

Posted - Nov 17 2011 : 08:03:08 AM I plan on making these http://luckyandblissful.blogspot.com/2010/11/raspberry-lemonade-mittens.html with a new sweater that I have in black that I can no longer wear do to the fact that the bottom of the sweater shrunk up and shows my belly. (lol) The rest of the sweater is okay. The middle of the sweater I plan on using to cover a pillow with. At least I will get something out of that sweater I had paid for.

Posted - Nov 16 2011 : 9:58:07 PM I have made mittens with felted wool sweaters. I did not see a reason for lining them since they are really warm to wear as it is. I made mine just with a thumb seperate. and I sewed around the outside with the button stitch. I really like them... please post pics when you have some to show.

Posted - Nov 14 2011 : 3:54:22 PM I have not made these , but I look forward to following this post in hopes of learning about it. I have a pair of lined mitterns, handmade but not by me, and I love them. Mitten season is short here in TX, though! Mary LD
