Posted - Oct 03 2011 : 1:19:19 PM Hello Hens...
Does anyone have the pattern written down to make a dish scrubbie out of netting?...maybe tule? A farmgirl friend sent me one in a barter and she said she got the directions from MJF. Does anyone have those? Or maybe...just tell me the date it was in. I do have many copies here and must have missed it. I would really like to try making some for gifts this Christmas. Thankyou. God bless your day. Hugs, Mary

Posted - Oct 08 2011 : 11:58:30 AM The pattern is in the MaryJane's Stitching Room book, page 87. I have made them too. My mistake was unfolding my netting to cut. Next time, I will keep it folded and cut the strips out.
Check you library for the book also.

Posted - Oct 05 2011 : 5:05:47 PM I've made a whole bunch of these, starting with something I made up myself as I went along. I do use a J hook and 2" strips. I like her idea of using double crochet . . . I've always just used single crochet. Double should make it go much faster :-)
Here's a tip for cutting! If you have a rotary cutter, fold your nylon netting lengthways one more time, place it on your cutting board, and just whip out a whole bunch of 2" (or whatever you'd like) strips. I usually cut a bunch at one time, and stuff them in a tote to carry around with me. My friends and family LOVE the scrubbies!!!

Posted - Oct 03 2011 : 9:53:36 PM If you can crochet in a circle, you don't really need a pattern. That's the way I make mine. No specific pattern. Just keep adding a extra stitch until it gets to the size you want. I use a pretty stiff netting over a softer tuelle.
I usually use cotton thread on the other side. After making the net circle, tie on the cotton. Then start decreasing every few stitches until you get to the center and tie it off.
Do what you love, love what you do. |
