They are so cute and look like a great way to use scraps of yarn.

Posted - Sep 20 2011 : 7:18:24 PM Sharon, just wanted to thank you again for the lead to the log cabin washcloth pattern. I'm on my 4th washcloth in fall colors using brushed cotton. They are so soft, and a nice change from the Grandma's Favorite pattern.

Posted - Aug 25 2011 : 12:12:12 PM I'm definitely going to try those washcloths! The lemon butter (curd) sounds yummy! Sounds like it doesn't take long to make either! I'd have to learn more about those jars. (So far I avoid them except for jelly.

Posted - Aug 25 2011 : 09:04:41 AM Hey Nini,
I personally would not can using jars like that. I would be afraid of taking a chance. I do re-use jars like you for dry items or if I don't have quite enough jam to fill a canning jar I will place it in one and refrigerate.
At our Farmer's Market there was an older lady selling flowers, vegetables and jam. I was looking at the jam and thought "What cute labels!" then I realized that she had used mayo jars, pickle jars, old jam jars and I immediately sat it down. I am really surprised that the Farmer's Market lets her sell them that way.
We didn't feel a thing with the earthquake. We are on the SW corner of the state. I was thinking about you when I heard about the earthquake on the east coast. I remember experiencing a small one when I was growing up in Massachusetts.

Posted - Aug 24 2011 : 9:37:33 PM Those are adorable, Sharon!
Hey - I noticed a little further down the page that the lady used grocery jars and lids to can lemon butter??? Is that right? I didn't know that could be done?! Wow!!! I re-use jars for dried stuff sometimes - like homemade granola for gifts - but I never thought in a million years we could re-use them and the lids for canning? Do you know anything about that??? That's kind of neat if it's safe to do!!!
'Hope all is well! Did you feel the earthquake? My sister said they were sleeping when it happened and didn't feel a thing, but a lot of their other friends felt it. We did here, too - well, the one after yours, the next day, not the one you guys had, of course! I was so blown away! I know I owe you an email - just need some more time to square things away here, and then a LOT to share!
Hugs -
Nini
