A few weeks ago I asked you if I was too old to learn to knit...and your replies gave me the confidence to JUST DO IT!

I watched a few videos on youtube and a few other learn-to-knit sites and ordered an excellent book from Amazon.com.I sat and practiced, learned to cast on, knit and cast off...and I am proud to say that I am almost done with a scarf that my DIL has already claimed! My next step is to learn the purl stitch and begin following some simple patterns.

Thank you from my heart to all of you who led me in the right directions, like youtube and ravelry.com, they have helped me so much.
I promise I will post a photo when I am done with the scarf.

Yea Linda! Now you can stress like me about all the things you want to make but will never have enough time to make. Knit on.

I have never thought about watching You Tube for instructional videos. Thanks for the great idea!

You go girl! I learned to knit when I was 52. Made a lot of scarves that year. I'm still learning new things and just finished a dishcloth. Found the pattern online at a site called tipnut. The pattern is called double bump. It's really easy, just knits and purls. Each row starts with a slip stitch (really easy). It's a neat pattern and looks really complicated but it's not.

Happy knitting and who says you can't teach an old farmgirl new tricks!

Awesome you!!

I learned how to knit when my son was in first grade - it was part of his waldorf homeschool curriculum, so I HAD to learn to teach him.

And I'm so glad I did! Knitting is so zen-like, very relaxing*

*that is, as long as I keep the project simple :)

Way to go! I just recently learned to crochet, mostly through Youtube videos. Once you get started it is so addicting! Can't wait to see pictures of what you're working on. Congrats!!

Yeah!!! I am so glad you kept at it. It's so addictive once you figure out even the basics. I am working on a dish drainer "quilt" right now. Maybe it would be a dish drainer afghan??? Two strands of cotton yarn, it's getting quite heavy already. Got tired of making dishcloths. lol

Do what you love, love what you do.

Hi Linda!

I am Linda too. That is just great!! I love to knit, but still am a bit of a novice. Use youtube and a great book my daughter got me to remind myself what I am doing, LOL!!

Keep it up, its fun and relaxing isn't it!
