Ok- so i have been following MJ's instructions for radial enlarging and can do awsome as long as whatever i'm enlarging has a "built in" 90° angle. the problem i'm having is if it's all curved or no 90° angle to use as a starting point.
where do i start? how do i enlarge it properly? i will try to take a pic of what i'm having trouble with and post it later. thanks in advance for any help and tips.
*So i added a pic, not the greatest but hopefully it helps. so where should i start with my 90°? red, blue, or black X? i traced over the original pattern lines to make it easier to see. and as you can tell i tried this from a cpl different places already and kept messing up. the yellow lines are my original starting point. grrr- this is frustrating me.
*so either i'm not making sense, (or making it harder than it is, which i tend 2 do sometimes), but what i'm using is the pdf that comes with the apron patterns or from here

I'm good untill i get to pg2 paragraph 2 and 3. on some peices i have absolutely no problem enlarging them. but a cpl pieces i have i just cant seem to get it right no matter what i do. if anyone can help me figure this out or even ideas to help me clarify where i'm having problems please let me know.

We got a puppy tonight which even though we had an appointment to meet her- I was not expecting to find a puppy first try- so I will have to work on that tomorrow!

YAY, thank you so much Alee, i think that makes sense to me. i will try it on one of the pieces i'm having problems with. also a demo would be awsome, and truly appreciated!!! thank you, thank you, thank you!

PS I would start at the black X but “tilt” your pattern a bit so the deepest part of the curve on the sweep of the pattern would be flush with a straight line coming out of the X if that makes sense?

I keep meaning to respond to this and have been finding myself lacking for time lately- so I am really glad this got bumped.
So on your image you have the yellow faux 90 degree line and I think this is messing you up. Think of the lower right hand side of your pattern as if it were to be on the fold of the fabric if you were to need to use a fold on your fabric, so you know how you manipulate the pattern piece so as much of it is on the fold as possible? That is how you have to manipulate your pattern piece. Then your first few lines should be “boxing in” the enlarged shape. Your lowest most right hand point is going to be your origination point and the first line would be running up like the imaginary fold of fabric while the bottom line is going to be your base line. Then your ruler is going to be anchored in the bottom right hand corner and new lines are going to run through your patter to the line and then for the additional size of enlargement for the pattern.
For example- let’s say my pattern was to be doubled in size and one line on the pattern was 6 inches. Then I would follow the line of your pattern for 12 inches instead of 6. That is where you will end your line. Then once all your lines are drawn, you play connect the dots and there is your new pattern line!

When enlarging on a curve, decide how many inches you need to enlarge on all seams. Then, with a ruler, measure out in 1/2" increments and make a dot then go dot to dot and your curve is enlarged.

so no one else knows either. i think i will change my title. i have gotten all but 2 parts of my pattern enlarged. but not sure if they are correct.
