Posted - Jul 05 2011 : 11:23:47 AM ok, I came across this idea for a towel holder via a past issue of Create & Decorate.... but in true Grace fashion, I did modify it a bit.... I used fabric rather then felt for the yoyos as I found the felt to be a bit thick & bulky to use. You can check it out on my katmom blog.... Love fun yoyo projects....

Posted - Jul 08 2011 : 6:16:31 PM I guess it would have helped if I told you all it was in the Aug. 2010 issue of Create & Decorate, on page 62. This particular issue had a lot of projects that I have 'dog eared' for a future project.

Posted - Jul 05 2011 : 10:59:53 PM Hi Donna, really simple,,, *you will need enough fabric to make 19 yoyos, 2 piece of felt,(9x11) in a color that matches your yoyo fabric. I used a mustard colored felt. *2 sq of green felt for the leaves. *thread-to sew yoyos *embroidery thread - green for leaves. *19 buttons (opt).
you need to cut out 19 circles (I use an old CD as a templet) and sew them into yoyos. then lay them out: row 1 - 3 yoyos row 2 - 4 yoyos row 3 - 5 yoyos row 4 - 4 yoyos row 5 - 3 yoyos
then lay them out on top of 2-pieces of felt to get the size that you need,,then cut the 2 felt pieces. Stitch the yoyos onto the top piece of felt..attach the buttons. you'll sew the 2nd piece of felt on after you you add the leaves. Cut out "frons-leaves" 4 with curves (equals 2 leaves)& 4 not so curvy and 2 that will be the top center leaf.(see photo.) Blanket stitch each set of leaves then lay them between the two pieces of pineapple shape felt. You will have a total of 5 frons/leaves... then blanket stitch all together, leave room near the bottom to insert the large macrame hoop for the towel... Put a few extra tack stitches to secure the metal ring and then finish blanket stitching around the bottom.
Stitch on a little 1" plastic or metal ring to the top back side of the felt to use as a hanger.
Hope this helps & you have fun. I found the metal ring in the craft section, where Joanns had their macrame kits. I think it cost about $1.29 or something like that. Happy stitching.....
