Dear Farmgirls:

Has anyone ever used the brand Knit Picks yarn that they sell? It's great price but is the quality good? If it is I would like to make some baby things out of it. Let me know what you think.

New York is baking right now! The Big Apple is turning into one huge pie. This heatwave is bloody awful! Stay Cool.

I use Knitpicks, too and get their catalog by mail. I like to sit with a catalog and browse before deciding and maybe I'm old fashioned, but I like it better than online, usually.

By the way, Utah farmgirls, a new knitting shop opened up -- right next door to Pipers! Whew! No wonder Pipers has put up signs (free knitting classes when you buy yarn there!). I haven't been in it yet but maybe when we have our next meeting we can check out some of the yarn and fabric shops nearby.

Farmgirl hug,
Patricia

I also have only good things to say about knitpicks yarn! I have ordered several times over the past 4 years and was never disappointed! The quality of the yarns is much higher than one would expect for the price. Their service is fast, shipments arrive within reasonable time and well packaged.
I have used some of their wool for garments and felting, have bought their fair-isle cardigan kit, and other yarns, patterns, books. I am particularly fond of their lace weight baby alpaca (I think it's called something with "mist" in the name) and made a huge shawl out of ONE skein and it is a weightless dream!
The only thing to mention besides that is the fact that they don't send you an order confirmation per email after you ordered. At first, when I didn't know that, it was a little odd to me, since most online orders are confirmed per email right away. But now that I know, I have no problem with it, because they proved to be reliable and prompt. I really recommend them!

I checked out their website..wow! they do have great prices...I just paid 9 bucks for a ball of sock yarn at the knitting store! A new little store near me opened..called Three Wishes Fiber Arts, cool store, but high prices.
They teach people how to spin yarn, I would like to learn that....

I'm using the Wool of the Andes right now for a felted bag project. It's working up just beautifully. Their prices are great, too. :)

Online...at www.knitpicks.com I went there and reminded myself..it was the "dancing" sock yarn I have used also..it was wonderful. I love to knit socks.
Remember, Sunshine..it's an hour and 1/2 for me to go to Heinselmans..sometimes I don't get up north to Provo for months at a time!! (can't go THAT long without more yarn...I have learned to order some stuff online.) I thought their prices were great!

I use it and have loved it. I've bought the wool of the andes and it felts well and holds color good. I've also bought the lace weight yarns (can't remember which ones) and they've worked out good too. I really like KnitPicks because they offer affordable yarn so that us poor people can make something beautiful without spending a hundred dollars! :)
