Posted - Jun 10 2011 : 10:14:31 AM Gladiola Montana has a quote in her book, "If you've done it, it ain't braggin'." I don't know if she is real or a pseudonym, but I like her point of view.
With that in mind--I have now made about a dozen MJ No-Frill Frilly Aprons! With the exception of my own, all have been gifts. For Christmas, I made each lady in the Cast-Iron Butt Club (our pack-in riding group) one in her color. The orange one was tough! I gave some others as Christmas gifts also. I even made a Mother-Daughter set. I had Staples enlarge the pattern sheet 200% instead of the 400% and it worked great. I donated one to the Church raffle for the Womens Ministries. I made a cool, Retro one for a friend going through chemo for breast cancer. It's a golden yellow (my least favorite color in the whole, wide world) with line drawings of cowboys and horses. For the ruffle I found the same color fabric with wavy lines. Perfect coordination. Come to find out, Glenda likes yellow! Now I have two wedding showers coming up and there is a lady in our church who is home from overseas for cancer treatments. I just had this nudge to make her an apron, so I called her sister to find out what Mistie's favorite color is (purple) and she likes to cook! I finished it last night and plan to give it to her on Sunday.
I really like this pattern because I like the design; it's easy to sew up; it's quick to sew up; and I LOVE picking out the colors and coordinating fabrics and matching them up with my friends.
Aren't colors wonderful?

Posted - Jun 12 2011 : 08:42:48 AM Gues what, girls? On the Table of Contents page in the most recent issue of MJF in the far upper left corner, the placemat is the EXACT same material that I used for the yellow retro horse line-drawing apron! How cool is that!
