My daughter who has just learned to knit this past winter would like to try knitting some doll clothes for her American girl dolls. Do any of you have any suggestions of where to find patterns for them? Or do any of you have patterns you'd care to share/trade/whatever? Thanks in advance for any info! (our library doesn't have any books on doll clothes. . .)

Hi there!
I made some great doll clothes for my daughter's AG doll. I found all the patterns on Ravelry. I searched and what is nice is they can tell you the level of difficulty. I teach kids' knitting classes. For the doll clothes, start as simple as possible, so she doesn't get frustrated. A good pattern on there is a shawl for the AG doll. There is also a simple sweater and a cute skirt. If you don't see them, email me and I will look up the links for you.

I was just on ravelry and there are a ton of American Girl patterns on there. I downloaded a couple this morning!

Sheila, I have only found one so far. It is in creative knitting, March 2007 on page 56. It is real cute cardigan with 2 patterns one for your daughter and one for her doll. They might have patterns available online.

I have a book you can have, Knits for Girls and Dolls. Has matching kids and American girl doll sweaters. Also, try knittingpatterncentral.com. I have had really good luck with all of their free patterns. Hope this helps.

I have seen some on the Creative Knitting magazine. I could look in my old issues and let you know which one has some. I think it had matching sweaters for the girls and their dolls. You might try their website as well. I believe it is www.creativeknitting.com. Maybe your library has this magazine. Please let us know where you find some. I have some knitters who would enjoy this as well.
