My 24 year old Pfaff Hobby lock is broken for good. The repair shop can no longer get the needed part. Can anyone recommend a serger? I want one that does a good rolled hem and great seam finishes.

Ladies - you are wonderful! Thanks for the advice! I am going to take my time and check out the machines. I have a new grandaughter that I would like to sew outfits for like I did for her dad and aunts when they were young. I like the finished seams I can't get on my old Kenmore - yes, that is 32 years old. I guess I just don't replace "old" things. (My husband and I have been maried for 32 years and I haven't replaced him, either!)

I have a Viking and an Elna. I love both of them.

I have a Baby Lock it is my second and the guy who repaired the first one also said to old to fix no parts. But I find it hard to believe that I can get parts for a 70 year of Singer and not for my old Baby lock. So I went on line and found the parts. My daughter now has a very good BabyLock serger and it works great.

I have a Janome My Lock. it is AWESOME. Never had a single problem and it's over two years old. It's so easy to use, and about 100 steps up from my Singer Serger, which only lasted about 90 days and then was unrepairable.

I have a self threading BabyLock and love it. It was top of the line when I got it and it also does not have tensions, so it is beyond easy to use. It works on a pulley system and you can go from organzana to denim with no adjustments. Self threading is wonderful.

I have a Brother and I love it. My only suggestion would be to take a look at how to thread them. I understand they have some self threading ones out now but the prices is rather dear. Another thing you will need to think about, is you may have to change the way you sew ~ for example last night finished 3 Easter dress for my grandaughters. I joined on side and then sergered the bottom for the hem and then sewed the other side seam. Keep us posted on what you get.
