Posted - Mar 20 2011 : 12:53:43 AM I thought I would share that today I got brave and started a craft group in my neighborhood. I am naturally I very shy person so this was a big deal for me! I live in a rural area where the houses are all pretty far apart (I moved in a little over a year ago)...and of course people just don't know their neighbors much anymore ! I want to change that. I really want to get to know women in my neighborhood better & make new friends PLUS work on some of my favorite craft projects that sometimes I don't get enough time for. SO I managed to get a group going. Today was the first meeting & there were only 3 of us, but hopefully next month there will be more. I have been wanting to do something like this for a long time & finally decided that if I don't start it myself it won't happen. The three of us that did go had a really nice time and the other ladies were saying how they loved the idea & really wanted to do it again...SO I'm hoping this is something I can turn into a monthly meeting. Just wanted to share with other crafty ladies because I am so excited about this!! |

Posted - Mar 23 2011 : 09:52:45 AM Hi Heidi, I just started a group as well. couple of month ago. I named it: "Quilting Friendships" This is open to all ladies young and old to come out twice a month to meet each other and at the same time work on a new or old project. Some ladies bring knitting, crocket, sewing quilts, even had one bring there bible study that she was working on. She said just needed to get out and be with other ladies. It has been a blessing to me to see ladies in my community coming out and gathering together. What FUN WE HAVE. It starts at 9 am and ends at 3pm they bring their bag lunch and we even share a lunch together. Great way to get to know who lives around us.
I Thessalonians 5:16,17 Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

Posted - Mar 20 2011 : 04:12:28 AM Good for you Heidi. I have always wanted to do the same thing. Congratulations is overcoming your shyness.
I have met katmom through MJF and we have gotten together to "do crafts" and talk. We so far haven't given our projects much attention because we have been so busy talking and getting to know one another. It is very rewarding for me and I hope Grace feels likewise.
For me, it is a more enjoyable way to get together than "lunching" although some sort of goodies are always available!!
