Posted - Mar 17 2011 : 2:02:06 PM I finally got tired of trekking back and forth to the picnic table to pick up/drop off clothespins when I'm out at the line. OR, as it's so windy here, my bucket of clothespins get knocked over and strewn all over God's creation.
So, I went through my stash and made a waste apron to hold them in. The floral print is a 45" home dec fabric from JoAnn's and the solid cream is drill cloth from the same place. Both are sturdy fabric and should hold up very well.
The loop at the top is so I can hang it up so it's out of the way, AND in hopes of deterring any 8 legged 'friends' from finding their way into it. I had to tuck the ties in as we have 5 cats and they'd have a ball playing with them.

Posted - Apr 15 2011 : 04:49:19 AM Debi, I guess my train of thought with DH is that if I'm doing the laundry for him - he should just be glad that it's getting done. Now in all fairness, if I knew and felt that stuff really and truly is stiff from line drying, I'd concede and throw them in the dryer for him. I've been on this earth for going on 49 years and have had my clothes hung out every year of my life but about 4 1/2 yrs. and I don't think it's such a big deal. DH is, and I'm being honest here, a pretty picky guy and makes his thoughts and feelings known about everything that gives a good twist to that corncob he has 'hiding.' Tee hee
And yet.......a few days ago he admitted (I could hear the pain in his voice when he told me this lol) that he sometimes can't tell the difference from what's been out on the line from what was in the dryer. Aaaarrggh!
SusieK, if you're wanting directions and measurements of what I made I'd be happy to share with you - just let me know! I wasn't sure if you were referring to my clothespin apron or something else that someone on this thread mentioned.

Posted - Apr 13 2011 : 07:05:45 AM Karen, I love the smell of clothes hung out doors but I do not like stiff towels and shirts. I put my clothes in the dryer and run for about 5 minutes and then hang them out and they are not nearly as stiff. L have an apron similar to yours I purchased at Walmart a few years ago. I love being able to tie the straps and loop in over my shoulds (like a purse) and then I can just reach down and grap a clothes pin.
Keep us posted on your progress with your husband.

Posted - Mar 23 2011 : 07:54:52 AM Thanks to all for your wonderful compliments. Hubby told me last night that his Mum had a similar apron when he was young, but hers had some sort of flap on it that she pulled up to access the pins. He STILL doesn't like line dried clothes, and I'm not sure if I'm ever going to convert this man.........STUBBORN. And I have to say, anyone who line dries knows that even if your clothes are stiff when you initially put them on - they get 'soft' in no time and one really can't tell the difference. That includes the ultimate 'stiff' fabric in jeans.

Posted - Mar 22 2011 : 10:49:03 PM I like the idea of it for gardening too. If you tie it around a 5 gallon painter's bucket, it could carry seeds in the apron and tools in the bucket. Love the fact it is beautiful, too! Jan
