I have been down for the count for 3 days now with a most delightful cold...(thanx grandbabies)......
But today the sunshine was invigorating & got me going...so sewing I did...
These lil outfits are for my childhood best friend who I am going to visit in April, I will be in Germany, visitng my family and friends.
Anyhow these outfits are for Irmgard's grand daughter...hope she likes them,,,and they fit.

The pattern #5944 I bought back in 1979 or 1980,,,and made my daughter lots of sun dresses with this pattern.

I luv this easy peasy wrap dress/top

It ties in back, allowing for 'growth'.

The orange shorts do double duty and can be worn with either top.

I still need to find some cute buttons for this dress.
So what do you do when you are sick....????

oh and by-the-by,,,,i think I just might have to use up some of my pillow cases for some 'sun dresses' for my grand babies....

Oh Yes I have started blinging the scooter already. Of coarse first I had to put a mary janes farm sticker on the back of it that says farmgirl plowin' thru :) Then I am waiting for hubby to put my canopy on top of it, got in my large bag that straps on the back of my seat to haul stuff in :) I will try to control myself and not drink and drive, lol....I got tickled at the manual, it says to pay attention to any animals or people in your path..NOW HOW DID THEY KNOW ME???lol..oh I am already doing stuff in my sewing room, I made curtains for my bedroom and need to make matching throw pillows to. Plus YOU KNOW i HAVE GOT TO WORK ON MY YOUNGEST SONS QUILT! I PROMISED HIM FOR GRADUATION...HE IS NOW 30.....SHAME ON ME!

In the mean time,,,have you 'blinged' your scooter yet, after all, when you start running over your "neighbors" you'll wanna do it in style !lol!
Oh & this is where I say..."don't drink & drive"! snork, giggle!

Well I just got back from the RA doctor and he wasn't happy to say the least. My blood pressure is off the chart and my swelling is awful. My RA is even worse. 3 more prescriptions so hmmmm up to 20 now :) Upped my cancer injection so I will have an even lower immune system. Gotta love going to Doctors when they say OH MY.

I try to distract myself when i don't feel good, some days I am very successful at it, other days, not so!
I just hate being bogged down with a cold,(who does?) especially when I have things that I want to, need to do!
But it's ok, to snuggle with a good kitty, a good blankie & a good box of tissues and ride out the cold!

That's so funny! No. 3772 is the one I just picked from a handful that my mil gave me for a new summer dress for Violet!

Before looking at what you do, when I first read your question, my first thought was, "bark at people, tell people to stay away and generally act miserable". I like your sick day better

Ha Ha Grace, I'm with you on that one! Been having a few tiffs with my neighbors...you know the son and daughter-in-law that is RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO ME....now I know why some animals eat their young....All I had on hand was brandy ...put some lemon and salt in it and it kinda reminds me of a marareta...hey...it kept me from running them over with my scooter! lol...I posted a picture of my hot rod on my blogspot last night Hugs,Nancy

Today both my son's and one of my daughter-in-laws came to the cabin and put up a new outdoor ceiling fan for me since I cannot , when they took the old one down (which looked like a dying daisy) my oldest son which lives next to me put it next to my cast iron pedestal tub and old plastic horsey and said ( knowing you mom you will use this for a yard ornament) lol....I may hang it from a tree like a chandelier just to drive him nuts..lol...I am still looking for that giant KFC bucket You know girls, even when we are sick and disabled we all still can laugh. ~sometime the only sense you can make out of life is a sense of humor~

Hi Grace,
Well if I could get the blocks sewn together on my son's quilt I could quilt it. I never learned how to knit or crotchet. I mainly sit in my recliner and use the laptop or read. My hands also get tired easily but I think if I did a block at a time I would eventually get it done. I need to take new pics of the place, that would give you something to get tickled over :) My oldest which as you know lives on the same acreage and he said it looks like sandford and son over here...lol...

Marianne,,,I actually did make 2 sunhats from the 5944 pattern,,,they are easy to make, but a bit fussy to work with... & yep, my grand babies look cute in them!

Oh Nigella, if I were up in Sequim I'd be drinking 'lavender & chocolate mint' tea and rolling in the lavender fields to make me feel better....lo!

Hey Nancy, we missed you...glad you are back & sorry to hear you are having health issues,,,for sure I will keep you wrapped in prayers.
Since you have had to give up your outdoor activities and limit your sewing time, are you able to tap into other creative sources? like stitchery or crocheting or painting?
Just know that I am sending you farmgirl hugs.

Thanx to all for thinking of me while I was living with my cold & drippy nose...it seems the older I get the more I whine & snivel about being inconvienced when I get a cold...life is to busy, I have to many projects, to many thrift shops to hit so I don't have time to be sick! Whaaaa!
fyi, I am much better, how do I know? I bought myself 2 bags of M&M's to celebrate! lol!

Hi there girl, long time since I have been on the forum. Well I AM NOW SICK 24/7. I mainly play on the computer, laptop, since my legs have to stay elevated. I have a chair to get me up and down but just have continued to keep my sewing room in hopes of being able to sew again. I just can't give up hope of being able to sew again. I have given up on my antique booths, given up my gardening, given up my chickens but not my sewing stuff, not yet. I have to stay away from my grankids when they are sick, and stay out of the sunshine. Good to see your name on here please pray for me to be able to adapt to my new lifestyle Take care, Nancy

Those outfits are adorable, Grace! Kudos!

When I'm sick, I drink appropriate herbal teas, curl up under a blanket, whine a little bit (but not too much!) and pray for it to pass quickly while sleeping it off as much as possible. I'm like Laurie - I'm pretty much worthless, too. I still get up, do the laundry, do necessary chores, disinfect everything, make the meals, etc., though. My guys would do it - they always offer, and truly, they're good to me; but let's just say in the long run it's easier and better just to do it myself. ;) Such is life!

Hope you're feeling better!

Hugs -

Nini

I wish I had someone to make those for! I love any excuse to cuddle up in bed with my knitting and a whole stack of newer BBC Jane Austen movies..... Oh yeah, I think I'm feeling sickly already! Hehe

Very very cute. I miss sewing for my daughter, there was a time when her clothes and her dolls all matched. I sooo miss that,

Wow, those are cute. When I'm sick its normally a cup of tea, some soup and a book or a movie. Maybe some knitting? Mostly bed. So you did alot more than I do when I am sick. lol.

WHen I'm sick, I grab a hot cup of tea, a good book, and snuggle on the sofa with a warm dog or two. We own 2 jack Russell's and they are always game for a blanket and a nap.

How cute. When I'm sick, I'm pretty worthless. Straight to bed and not up for day or so. Gets me over the cold, but no energy for this. Glad you are feeling better.
