My carhart coveralls are too long. Right now I have them rolled up. The only way I know to fix them is to roll them under and sew them. Which would be fine, but I'd really like to be able to utilize the zipper going up the side to get my rubber boots on easier. I'm 5'1" and if my hips weren't all women I would have gotten kid coveralls! 
I'm not a sewer or a hemmer, I'll admit it. My boyfriends Mom will be hemming them. But is there any way to hem them and still utilize the zipper?

Even with a metal zipper? If so, AWESOME! I always thought that it was impossable to shorten those.

 How much are you shortening the pant leg? If the zipper comes to the right spot and your shortening the pant leg by a few inches, you simply can purchase a new zipper stop to place on the zipper at the new stopping point. . . if your super careful, you can reuse the zipper stop that is already on the zipper!

if you are talking about the kind of coveralls i am thinking of, the zipper only comes up to the knee. take the lenth off above the zipper. if there is already a reinforced knee patch, use that patch to hide the removed piece. if the knee is not already reinforced, use top stitching to create the illusion of a patch and hide the removed piece.
