Hey BettyJo, I read on one of the needle punching sites that a beginner is going to have stitches that aren't even - too tight or too loose - so just keep practicing. Forgot to say that the cookie cutter idea is great - I've got some antique cutters that I'll use. Have to start on a baby afghan tho first - #14 grandbaby due in June.

Betty Jo, didn't even think about Thimble Cottage - she has everything there. I love, love that place. Next time I make it into Rapid I'll check it out - maybe next week after this blizzard has moved on its way! Isn't this something? Guess we were due. Tammy, what a great idea - I never even thought of that - never go to youtube, so why would I have thought of that. Thanks for the info.

Jess and Betty Jo - went on those sites and found some great stuff. I too am teaching myself "how to" - along with everything else I'm teaching myself. Got some needles at Hobby Lobby and had had a pattern piece from way back. so now I can start on it. Can't wait to see how it turns out. Not very many places in our area to find this kind of craft work except on-line. Betty Jo - are there any places in your area up there? Only about an hours drive from where I live. Here's to our noble efforts!!

I went to this site and ordered mine and then got a cute snowman from a sweet farm girl http://www.punchneedlemarketplace.com/shop/cart.php?m=product_detail&p=10
then you can go to you tube and see the know hows there

Last year I got going on my first project--bought all the stuff--had a lesson on how to do it--then got busy and forgot how to do it.
I'd love to pick it up again. Any advice on where to find some good directions?

Also, thanks for the good resources for patterns (not that I should buy any new ones) har

I use to do needle punch with the kids years ago. I think we used color books for patterns and traced them onto fabric.
