Posted - Jun 07 2006 : 12:51:28 PM I made these two samplers some time ago. One is actually just written in the dotted alphabet letters with a thin line permanent black marker the other is stitched. It uses all those great old buttons and makes use of old frames you have laying around. I just tea stained some new muslin to give it a rustic look and put a cardboard backing behind. These are easy to make - Have fun! I am working a one for MJ Farmgirls to make it will be nice - when I am done I will show it to you, I have just written the verse to go on it!

Posted - Aug 14 2006 : 4:17:18 PM My grandmom left me two mason jars full of her old buttons. In the old days, they took them off clothing when the item wore out and reused the buttons on another article of clothing. Some of mine have turned colors due to age. I've wanted to do something with them for me...and now I have a great idea! Thanks! Mommom |

Posted - Aug 14 2006 : 08:59:32 AM I have a ba zillion buttons, I may have to make something like that. I made a med. size quilt a while back, and sewed a button in the middle of every square, came out real cute and looked nice, but you wouldn't want to take a nap with it. NANCY JO |

Posted - Aug 14 2006 : 07:24:09 AM I was recently in the button isle at Joanne's fabric store and the selection of buttons amazes me - they even have ones shaped similar to flowers, but I like using the old ones.
