Posted - Jul 22 2010 : 2:40:48 PM Some one recently gave me a roll of burlap, 4feet by 150feet. I wanted it to put down in the garden as a weed block but then got to wondering if any one has a favorite craft idea for burlap? ![](icons/icon_smile.gif) Thank you, Carol

Posted - Jul 24 2010 : 2:14:49 PM Great ideas, and Christy, I remember now, as a child sewing with burlap and yarn! And Marilyn, I don't know if it has been treated but it sure smells like burlap, not chemicals. That is a good point. I plan to save most of it through winter and see what I can do with it. Thank you all for these ideas, Carol

Posted - Jul 24 2010 : 1:31:13 PM I would love to make a table for the children to hold burlap so they can practice with needle and yarn. |

Posted - Jul 24 2010 : 05:12:20 AM With burlap anything is possible! Tote bags to carry in what you have just harvested from your garden, great bags for potatoes, scarecrows, table cloth for your picnic table, makes a great canopy for shade and just about anything else you can imagine![](icons/icon_smile_wink.gif)

Posted - Jul 23 2010 : 8:50:56 PM When I was very young, my mom and dad wanted to use some dark green burlap for the wallpaper in our downstairs bathroom. But they couldn't find a wallpaper glue that would hold it up -- they tried and tried. Finally, they got one little patch of burlap to stay on the wall. My memory fails me here and I don't remember what worked, but I remember their victory dance as that little five inch by 6 inch piece stayed on the wall. Eventually they did the whole room, and it was beautiful. Suzanne |

Posted - Jul 23 2010 : 6:45:11 PM When I was a kid my dad made a large bulletin board for the wall above the desk in my bedroom by covering a piece of fiber board with burlap. I still have it but now it's hanging on the wall in my office at work.
If you decide to use the burlap as a weed cloth.....just be sure sure it isn't treated with chemicals to keep it from rotting.
Cheers! ~ Marilyn

Posted - Jul 22 2010 : 8:30:51 PM I made some rustic curtains with burlap. I paired them with lace panels to soften the look. Cindy
