I had found a pretty cool website but they have disco'd all their fabric. I'm looking for cotton jersey, tissue weight and t-shirt weight. I'm not worried about color as I can dye them myself, just need a good source. Also stretch lace?
Anybody have favorites?

I do have the Dharma catalog, not as much selection as I would like, I use them for a bunch of other stuff though. I want to make a skirt, I got a really cool ideabook for working with knits and doing wearable art so I got all inspired.

Although I'm not that much into garment sewing (I quilt), I have friends who are. Try the following sites:

You could also pick up a copy of Sew News magazine and peruse the display ads to find the names of other fashion fabric retailers.
Good luck with your fabric search. It's frustrating when you know what you want is out there somewhere, only you can't find it!

I'll admit , I've already cast some bids!
I am still wishing for 100% cotton knits with body and drape. Urban Chickie, I'm right with you on wishing fewer fabrics came from China!!!!!! Maybe I don't buy a lot of first run, but I do look forward to getting what's on sale later.

Check out Dharma Trading online, they sell yardage specifically for dyers. Fabric.com has great prices sometimes but it's real hit or miss, most stuff isn't reordered so once it's gone, it's gone and other stuff takes its place. A nice place to check out every so often though. I wonder if Nordic needle has stretch lace? Dunno. Might be worth checking out. Mary's right, nice knits are hard to find. All the good fabrics are getting harder. I work at a fabric store and we can't sell at higher quality because most aren't willing to pay the higher price, it's so sad. Used to be folk invested in a few basics that were high quality and lasted, no matter how trendy their other stuff was. Relatively few sew anymore, and most sewers are hobby sewers at that. Those who are more serious have a harder time of it, that's for sure! Even the industry is drying up, most of the good Portuguese flannel mills are closed because folk buy all the cheap crap from China. Obviously, one of my pet peeves :)

I wish I had an answer for you. I am struggling to find knits, as well. Austin has ONE garment sewing store, and of course, the chains Hancock and Joanns. I love the garment sewing store, The Common Thread which does not have online sales. I am trying to shift colors in my wardrobe, to be more fun and upbeat. The Common Thread has a lot of dark and muted colors in their knits, but I found a great fushia/ purple that has soy or hemp and soy in it. There may have been a bright in the wrong color for my skin-
Anyhow, I will watch this thread with interest. Good knits are rare these days.
