Wish me luck.
I said I would make seat covers for my Dad's old truck.
I have the fabric remnants [he doesn't care what the fabric is as long as the holes are covered - there was none to buy that fit his 10 year old truck seats].
So I got out two big pieces of blue valuer and some brown burlap like material that came from a decorator's "going out of business sale."
This is a beach seat so I hope it will be at least close.
I haven't been able to do much with patterns so far, but I got out my measuring tape and wrote down all the lengths I could think of, so maybe I'll get lucky, eh? 
Hey, would this count for the advanced sewing badge? It certianly is sewing something different.

My first truck was a big red 454 GMC.
That was fun!
Now I'm thinking about dashboard covers for Dad's truck and mine...

Wow, way to jump in with both feet. That looks super! You could probably market something like that if you made 'em with funky cowgirl fabrics and denim or khaki, or super cutesy..red cherries with red denim in a shiny red truck,
Man, I'm dreamin'...I drive a '97 beige four door toyota corolla! I'd love a big ol' truck, crew cab for the boys in back, red or blue with cool seat covers like that!

Good For You Carla...that is awesome. I bet your Dad is so appreciative.
I wish my dad was still around to do things for. He passed away about 9
years ago.
I can't believe you just started sewing. Well, you don't believe in letting
a big project frighten you away. In case you didn't know most people start
small before they tackle projects like that! LOL!

I did it!
How do you like this girls!
Used some mulberry material a local decorator was giving away, plus some blue synthetic velvet that I got from a friend. Not enough of either so I faked it.
Pretty good for someone who has only been sewing for a couple of months, eh?
If I can do it, anyone can!

Ah, would that I had thought of that while over in Fruita, the town Dad lives in.
Instead I have to hope my calculations are right [I'm sure a hidden safetypin or two will make for a snug fit though.
Sewed the major part of the seat back. I'm impressed - it looks cool!
Here's hoping the rest goes as well.
If successful I will post photos.

Carla, I would suggest using an old sheet and pinning the sheet to size on the seat to use as a pattern and then "true up" your sheet pattern with your measurements before cutting your heavy fabric. Make a muslin of the sheet to check for fit and then use the mock up as your pattern. Good luck.
