Because my best friend is very down in the dumps:(, I would like to make something special for her. She LOVES the Old fashioned Victorian style white long nightgowns our grandparents wore. Remember those?? The long one, with a high buttoned closure up front and some lace??

Please can someone help me to find a link for instructions, I have been doing a lot of googling but can't seem to find it duh.

Thanks gals

LOL I will NOT use flannel, just cotton :) Now if it were for ME!! I might use a flannel lol but for her a white crisp cotton and lace is what I will use. Thanks PeggyAnn, she has some serious family heartache right now and I just wanted to brighten her up some. HOPE to get it finished before I leave next week :)

Linda...I went on and looked at that Beautiful Dreamer Victorian Night Gown...reminds me of some I wore as a girl in the 60's. So, cute! Too HOT now for us HOT Flashing Babes! We'd burst into flames wearing a flannel night gown like that. Marian, I hope your friend is young or very cold blooded! Good Luck! You are a special friend to work so hard at trying to make her something that you know she will love!

Blessings,
~peggy

...how about finding her a cotton gown.... then add your own lace yokes, collars, cuffs...etc.?

Here's a link to a Victorian nightgown pattern. http://www.nearseanaturals.com/item.php?id=2130 You can see from the picture that the body of the gown is gathered to a ruffle-trimmed yoke.

A near and quick approximation might be to find an oversize old fashioned blouse and sew a simple gathered gathered skirt to it with a ruffled flounce and put some lace trim around the collar and the cuffs or ends of the sleeves.

Thanks Julie. There ARE some that I do like, but as I said am just looking for directions lol. I realize I can buy patterns here too (if I had the time to look around) but to be honest I can't afford to buy anything yet AND time is running out lol. I am leaving end of next week and would LIKE to make one asap. But thanks girl, I will keep looking online for directions :)

This website has the patterns you might be looking for.....

http://www.oldpatterns.com/nightgowns.html

A little pricey....but you would always have the pattern then. I will be going to the fabric store today so I will check the patterns there and let you know.
