Posted - Jan 27 2010 : 10:22:07 AM Hello, Farmgirls! ( Posted by me in Barter and Here's to your Health) I'm going to volunteer with Midwives for Haiti along with another Farmgirl, Illysa Foster. We'll be teaching local midwives as well as providing full service maternity care. We've been asked to provide mother baby supplies, and the list can be seen at www.midwivesforhaiti.org/bring.htm I'll bring over whatever is donated- cloth diapers, pins, soap, medical supplies, etc. Calling all Farmgirls! I'm organizing a onesie drive. Volunteers would choose a onesie, new or used, preferably in newborn size. Then the fun begins! Each Farmgirl would embellish the onesie any way she wishes- fabric paint, embroidery, applique, iron on patches, the sky's the limit. Just be sure the decorations are safe and secure for older siblings. Boy, girl, or gender neutral designs are all welcome. I can receive items up until June 15, 2010. On a heartfelt note, there is a need for light cotton gowns which are especially welcome for mothers without a surviving baby. I am hoping to bring a few of these as well. Thank you! ~ Mary LD

Posted - Jan 27 2010 : 6:54:58 PM Dear Debbie, Wow, you are an angel. I would be THRILLED with any light cotton gowns in usable condition. This project is really helping me see how much need another human being could have- to be in need of a gown after the loss of a child. Thank you so, so much, Debbie. This part of the project is very close to my heart. ~ Mary LD PS Let me know when you need my address!
Haflingers- You can't have just one! ( I'm just one short of a drill team!) |
