Hi Apron loving sisters.
I thought we might want to start a new topic similiar to the other Aprons and more that got so long and now fizzling out.
We have made so many wonderful friends by sharing about aprons. Let's keep doing it!

I too am addicted to making aprons. I make them for all my friends, and have managed to make 2 or 3 for myself.
I downloaded mary jane's holiday apron pattern. I am headed to the local quilt shop for fabric today. I know two friends who will love it. I think I like making aprons because they are easier than a dress and somewhat forgiving - since you can cinch the ties up tighter if you need to - or add a little more fabric for a larger size.
I am also going to use the pattern in the Stitching Room book - the half apron with the ruffles. I have some soft florals in blues and cream.

look at this...it's a pinkeep that was swapped...isn't this adorable? I'd love to make one.
on the bottom right looks like handmade pins...gives us the idea of the size of this.

I just cut out an apron from the A is for Apron book - has anyone used it? I had heard that the directions weren't very well written, and sure enough there was an issue with the yardage. Fortunately I have finally sewn enough that even if there is weirdness in the directions I can usually figure it out. I got The Perfect Apron for christmas too and can't wait to try some aprons out of that too!!

Cool, so glad you will be joining us @ Karen's...I sent Huckleberrywine an email...to check in on her...Poor thing.
Maybe she will feel up to joining. I sure hope so...
Hmm, I think the dispoable table cloth would work...they are a bit thicker/durable then the original tissue pattern paper.
You could also use Butchers paper, it's a bit stiffer but works.
I have actually used good old newspaper (but not on white or very light fabric).

I'm just popping in real quick. No sewing going on at all, unless I can convince my mom to do some minor repairs on goofy stuff like kid pants and a random bedsheet and such when she's up.
I'm 37w4d along, and surviving. There's a 1.5 out of 7 chance that hubby will be here when the kiddo's born if he keeps coming home every weekend. So there's that. And now we're not 100% sure we're moving... if hubby gets an intriguing job offer from a firm up here that didn't have the means to hire him back in August/September (but is supposed to get a contract in the next few months?)... Yeah. So we don't even know if we're coming or going. Oh well. There's worse things.

Grace - yes I will be there for sure, not sure about Michelle but I will be my most persuasive when I see her on Monday:) So the URM Cash and Carry? Are we just talking a regular disposable tablecloth or is it heavier?

the Cash & Carry stores up here are the same as Smart Final back in California.

I was wondering if you had one of those stores. The paper tablecloth is so big, that I can use it for several patterns, plus it was cheap. Not sure what it cost though.

Amy, what I have done with my patterns is first I purchased a paper tablecloth from Smart and Final. I don't know if you have this store near you. The tablecloth has the look of linen and it is heavy and very durable. I cut out the pattern pieces on the paper tablecloth and then I would label the pieces.

I had written myself a note about the Vogue pattern sale - glad you reminded me. My mom surprised me last Christmas with a stack of vintage apron patterns she had found at junk/antique stores - what a great gift. I'm almost afraid to take them out of the envelopes though, I'm going to have to get some tracing paper and redraft them, plus there is the whole sizing thing - a size 18 in the 40's had a 36 inch bust, I'm thinking size 18 was supposed to fit an 18 year old?

I'd love to have that Vogue pattern...but I'd have to take out all the gathers because I'm wide enough in the middle... :=) I would just make it more streamlined from the waist down.
