I got my sewing room stove hooked up today and had to show ya'll my first little fire! I was afraid to build it to big, never used one like this before. It did well and I found out it is a Ben Franklin? Nice and toasty now! YIPEE!!

Thank you! I would LOVE to have built in cabinets to better organize my fabrics, ect. I also wish I had room for all my sewing machines that have been passed on to me. Right now I have the 1911 White treadle machine in the dining room until I figure out how to get it restored and IF I can part with it once it is done! The stove takes up alot of space in the small sewing room but there is just something about wood burning stoves that I love! My husband is currently looking for another small one for his wall tent, lol....we are hopeless! I tried to give both my daughter-in-laws a machine but they say they just don't have the patience for it but they both knit and crotchet, now to me THAT takes patience! I still am storing fabrics in closets and any nook or cranny I can find. My scrap bag probably weighs 75 pounds! Ha! It is squeazed into my hall closet, along with everything else. lol..Today we tried something new, me and my grandkids had a marshmellow roast in the sewing room! Ha!

That IS the best singer made! We have a singer dealer that even told me that :) I learned to sew on that when I was 4 and now my 3 yr old granddaughter sits on my lap and will soon be following in my footsteps :) She already is mastering hand sewing! The machine is a 401A. My mom let me have it and was not happy at all with her new one so I found her a restored one on ebay! She was astonished I found another :) I have another singer that was my grandmothers in the original cabinet, then I got moms machine that she did'nt like, it has some neat stitches on it, then...I got my husbands mothers sears machine, haven't tried to sew on it yet. But I just ended up storing them and keeping my favorite machine and my simplicity embroidery machine, now THAT machine is addictive!!!

The tan Singer in the picture on your blog - I had one just like that. It was the first sewing machine I bought with my own money. Wish I still had it!

I build really small fires in the sewing room, remember this room is only 9X9! It doesn't get warm enough to melt anything, now if it was the one at my sons house, you betcha! I've seen him burn what looks like tree trunks! lol...I stick to twigs :)

Hi Nancy,

I've heated our home with a Tri-Lakes woodstove (it's pretty big) for 29 years and I still love this type of heat - although it gets pretty dusty. I do have a suggestion though: I would move your pictures and your plastic storage box away from your stove because the heat will either melt them or warp them.
